SAP offers a huge toolbox of different technologies to support business processes. The usefulness of their use is essentially determined by the task and its technical requirements. We have gained a lot of valuable experience in the following technologies, which we would like to make available to you.

It is possible to specify a trace level for each rule in the ACL file to monitor each communication channel individually. It can be used with SNC without any further configuration. The use of the file is controlled by the gw/acl_file parameter by simply setting it to the appropriate file name. Use of external programmes If an external programme wants to communicate with your SAP system, it must first register at the gateway. The programmes which this is approved are controlled by the reginfo ACL file. This defines rules that allow or prohibit certain programmes. The syntax of the file allows you to define not only the name of the programme, but also the host on which the programme runs and hosts that can use and exit the programme. The gw/reg_info parameter must be set to use this file. In addition, there is the ACL file secinfo, which allows to configure which users can start an external programme. This defines rules that allow certain usernames from the SAP system to use certain external programmes. In addition, you can also define the hosts on which these programmes will run. For example, it is possible to allow a user to run the programme "BSP" on the host "XYZ", but not on the host "ABC". This file is controlled by the gw/sec_info parameter. Using the gateway as a proxy Since the gateway of your SAP system can also serve as a proxy server, the prxyinfo ACLDatei should also be activated via the gw/prxy_info parameter. Suppose you have 3 SAP systems in your network: SRC, TRG and PRX. If SRC cannot communicate directly with TRG, but both with PRX it would be possible to use the gateway of the PRX system as a proxy server, i.e. to communicate via it. So, in order to prevent this from happening to everyone, this property should be urgently restricted. As with the other ACL files, rules are defined which hosts can communicate with which hosts via the gateway. The syntax of the different ACL files may vary depending on the release level. It is therefore advisable to read them in the appropriate SAP documentation before activating the ACL files. You can also find more support for using ACL files in the SAP Community Wiki.
Migration of SAP systems to HANA DB
Own development testing is very common in the quality system. Therefore, the customising/workbench developments must be transported to the appropriate system. It is highly recommended to use the order type "Transport of copies". This post explains why you should use this type of order and what you need to consider. Transporting copies - Why? All objects on the original transport order remain locked. Only the copies of the objects are transported to the next SAP system. If something goes wrong during transport, objects can easily be recollected or added. In addition, when copies are transported to the test system, no import is created in the production system. The import queue remains clean and clear. The problem with overtaking transports is eliminated. Transporting Copies - Creation To create a transport of copies, call the Transport Organiser through the transaction SE01. Check the Order Type "Transfers of Copies" and click View Create a new order (using the Document icon or F6 key). Then select the order type "Transport of copies". Then define a description and the destination system of the transport. Transport of copies - Add objects The transport order of the type "Transports of copies" was created. Now we want to add the objects of the original to be transported. Unfortunately, not all objects of an order can be copied directly. Therefore, it is important to take the objects task by task. A transport order can contain multiple tasks. Press CTRL+Y to highlight the task ID and then copy it by CTRL+C. Right-click on your order of the type "Transport of Copies" and select the Include objects option. Select the object list of an order and copy in the ID of the task that contains the objects to be transported. Confirm your input. All objects of the order are transferred to the transport of copies. You can then transport the objects to the test system using the normal transport procedure.

The website www.sap-corner.de offers many useful information about SAP basis.

So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? That's what Scribble Papers is great for.

The coverage of old core tasks (such as security or compliance) and new core tasks (such as cloud or mobility) must be increased in the sense of a holistic consideration. This means that certain tasks must be considered not only in the context of the SAP basis, but also in the overall context.

With "Shortcut for SAP Systems" a tool is available that greatly facilitates some tasks in the SAP basis.

The consistent implementation of the aforementioned guide can support the SAP basis not only in external communication, but also in the own definition and positioning within the own IT organisation ZITAT OF A PROJECT STAFF.

Regular training helps you to develop your personal skills in a targeted manner.
